Spanu Pipes are one of Europe’s hidden gems, while the name doesn’t come forward often in discussions of Artisan carvers, anyone who ows and smokes these pipes rave about them. Tom Spanu started making pipes as a hobby in 1962 and has never looked back. Working with local Briar, Lemonwood and Olive, perfecting the art of curing the locally harvested materials. They only produce under 1000 pipes a year so they are very rare, each pipe is totally unique.
ZThe Sughero is a speciality of Tom Spanu, the pipe is made mostly from briar and then covered in a cork oak bark. This is practical as well as a design feature as it keeps the pipe cool, also Cork is Sardinia's national product which is where the pipes are produced. Each pipe is completely one off.
