The family of Jorge Ortiz Alvarez, President of Puros Santa Carla, has been involved in the cigar making business since the 1830's. Santa Carla is a ranch where the best crops were obtained and therefore they named their company and factory after this special domain.

The Santa Carla factory started with 2 workers in 1967 and by 1972 they had grown to 40 employees. In 1975 a new spacious factory was opened but disaster struck in 1983 when the factory was destroyed by fire. However production was only stopped for 2 days despite the fire destroying the moulds, presses and boxes. In the present day Santa Carla continues to expand whilst ensuring the high quality of their products. They have developed a new value for money cigar using only long filler tobaccos. Madrigal cigars are handmade by tabaquero masters who guarantee a special creation using the finest and perfect aged tobaccos of San Andres. 

Madrigal Picador are well made cigars with an even burn and consistency flavour. They are medium bodied with a cedar woody aroma, a hint of coffee and peppery notes.
